Alessandra “ALE” Gambini (Milan, Italy 1971- Irvine, CA 2024), a prominent figure in the culinary world, was a Los Angeles-based Italian food writer, cookbook author, recipe developer, and culinary instructor. Renowned for her expertise, she held certifications as an “IICCT Certified Chocolate Taster” and a “WorldChefs Accredited Tea Master.” Hailing from the picturesque city of Milan in Northern Italy, Ale’s culinary journey was deeply influenced by her grandmother, Nonna Fernanda, instilling in her a profound love for cooking and gastronomy.

In March 2013, Ale embarked on her digital culinary voyage with the inception of her food blog, “Bread Love And Dreams,” later rebranded as “A Queen In The Kitchen” in March 2017. Her blog became a haven for authentic Italian recipes and easy-to-follow video demonstrations, attracting a wide audience and earning her recognition as an official contributor for Expo 2015 Milano, Honest Cooking, I Love Italian Food, and Appetito magazine.

Ale’s culinary prowess extended beyond the digital realm, as she became the host chef of acclaimed web cooking series such as “A World Of Sweets,” “Baking Bread,” and “A Queen In The Kitchen,” all of which were honored with awards at the prestigious “Taste Awards” in Hollywood, California. Additionally, she shared her expertise as a cooking instructor at esteemed institutions including the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, LA Food Bowl, and various Eataly locations across the United States (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Boston …)

In addition to her online presence and instructional endeavors, Ale penned two celebrated cookbooks: “A Queen In The Kitchen,” featuring authentic Milanese and Northern Italian recipes passed down through generations, and “No Ketchup on Spaghetti,” a comprehensive guide to Italian culinary traditions, presented during the 5th annual Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.

Ale’s impact reached international borders through her collaboration with Vicenzi USA, where she served as their Italian ambassador, developing new projects and introducing her signature Tiramisu variants, thereby spreading the essence of Vincenzi and authentic Italian culture throughout the USA.

Despite facing a courageous battle with cancer starting in 2023, Ale’s determination and resilience shone through. Tragically, on February 26th, 2024, Ale succumbed to her illness in Irvine, CA.

In recognition of her remarkable contributions, Ale was inducted into the TASTE AWARDS Hall of Fame in 2023. Additionally, following her passing, the “Best filmed at home episode or film” award at the Taste Awards was posthumously renamed “The Ale Gambini Award for Best filmed at home episode or film” in her honor.

In her first chapter in Italy, you may have encountered her collaborating as a percussionist on records, touring alongside major Italian artists, or gracing popular TV shows on prominent Italian networks.

Transitioning into her second chapter in the USA since 2008, she wholeheartedly embraced her passion for sharing Italian food and culture. Through her writings, videos, teaching endeavors, and enthusiastic advocacy, she became a beacon of Italian culinary excellence. Recently, she and her husband fulfilled their dream of becoming American citizens, marking a significant milestone in their journey.

Above all, she cherished her role as a devoted mother, finding immense joy in witnessing her daughter’s accomplishments, whether it be performing in concert bands or excelling in swimming competitions.

Her vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on countless lives, and we will forever cherish her inner beauty, kindness, and boundless zest for life.

Buon Appetito!!!
